Paramus Laser Procedures

Dr. Zenda Garcia-Lat performs several cosmetic dermatology procedures. Some of the procedures performed by Dr. Garcia-Lat include:

IPL Treatment for Rosacea/Facial Veins

Photofacial® is a non-ablative and non-invasive rejuvenation of the skin using the remarkable new technology of Intense Pulsed Light (IPL).

IPL photorejuvenation technology can correct or erase the signs of photoaging, rosacea, sun damage, and brown spots on the face, hands and body. It has also been used to reduce the appearance of mild acne scars, dark circles around the eyes, and to reduce fine lines around the eyes and mouth.

Using a cold gel applied to the area to be treated, the IPL Photofacial® handpiece is gently applied over your skin as pulses of light are emitted. Usually six treatment sessions, lasting about 20 minutes each, will provide you with beautiful long term results.

There is no recuperation time necessary. With an IPL Photofacial® you can return to work the same day and resume your normal activities. There is no disruption to your active lifestyle. You will notice a gradual, yet natural-looking improvement providing you with outstanding results. IPL is a safe solution tailor-made to your skin type and condition.

This treatment also stimulates the deeper layers of the skin to “turn on” fibroblast cells to make more collagen (to keep the skin plump) and elastin (to keep the skin tight).  These factors otherwise diminish with aging skin. This is a perfect combination to use with facial rejuvenative surgery.

Laser Hair Removal

Laser hair removal is a finely tuned sophisticated procedure done with the use of  laser.  This specific laser is designed to remove the growth center at the base of the hair follicle.  The laser emits a gentle beam of light that passes through the skin, to the hair follicle, where it is absorbed.  Upon absorption, the laser energy is transformed into heat, which can disable the follicle.

The majority of the body parts are appropriate for the use of this laser.  It is essentially a painless procedure, it can be performed in the office and does not require anesthesia.  The laser is FDA approved and in general 3 laser treatments 4 weeks apart are required for complete removal of the hair in the region.

Spiders/Leg Vein Removal
Spiders are those ugly, dark blue little veins that run up and down the legs resembling lines on a road map. Sometimes spiders group themselves into nasty little star burst patterns that pop out where they are least wanted!  Sometimes they fan out along the outside of the thigh or the inner aspect of the lower leg. Often they gather around the ankles or behind the knees.

A special saline solution is injected or lasers are used to fade these veins. Facial veins are effectively managed with a laser.
